Have you ever faced a potentially life-threatening situation where you were saved just in time and wondered if it could be divine intervention? Or perhaps you’ve stumbled upon coins on your path and were curious if they held a deeper meaning than just loose change?
Many of us have encountered experiences like this but often dismiss them because we don't fully understand them. However, once we open our hearts and minds to receive divine signs, we can begin to see they are more common than we may have thought. Because there will be times when these moments are more than mere coincidences—they could be messages from your angels.
We all have guardian angels and departed loved ones who can assist us on our journey. Our angels can communicate with us through symbols, synchronicities and our intuition, offering messages of wisdom, comfort and inspiration.
Knowing common signs angels send can help validate an experience you’ve had or open you up to notice and receive more signs going forward. These divine signs can help strengthen your faith, guide you in pivotal times and deepen your faith.
My Story
I vividly remember angels by my bedside during childhood and felt grateful for their presence. I shared one of my biggest secrets with my angels: I, too, wanted to be a guardian angel someday and help others here on Earth.
Like so many of us, when we are young, we are more open to seeing and communicating with our angels. It is said that young children can see angels because they are more spiritually attuned, and society hasn’t conditioned them to believe what they see isn’t real.
I remember my angels showing themselves as balls of glistening light and a blinking star in the room. As I grew older, the visual experiences became less frequent, but I knew that even though I could no longer see them, they were there because I could feel them.
My faith in God and Jesus has consistently served as an anchor in my life. I also firmly believe He has angels watching over us. A few years ago, as my health challenges intensified, I began to reconnect with my angels. As I became more receptive, my angels communicated more frequently through various signs, often because they had a message to share.
My journey from childhood to adulthood has revealed many ways they reach out to us. Explore the following 10 ways your angels can communicate with you and see how these signs can support you on your path.
10 ways your angels can communicate with you.
Remember, just as every person on Earth is unique, angels possess distinct personalities that shape how and when they choose to communicate.
1. Feathers
When you find a feather, it can be an especially powerful sign from your angels.
During my health challenges, I visited over twenty doctors but found no answers for the long list of symptoms that appeared within a few months. I held on to hope of finding effective treatment, as my symptoms were significantly affecting my quality of life. During these uncertain times, I received comforting signs from my angels.
One memorable incident occurred at a local hardware store while I was searching for plants to create a meditation space in my home. I was greeted by a woman in the nursery whose presence immediately put me at ease. I shared my vision for the space, and she guided me to items that would help bring it to life. Our conversation flowed effortlessly as if I had known her for years.
Before leaving, I told the woman I believed we were destined to meet and that she was an angel on earth. When I loaded up my car, I looked inside one of the pots and found the biggest, most beautiful feather, perfectly placed in the center. I still have the feather in my meditation room as a reminder of divine presence during one of the most challenging times in my life.
2. Coins
Finding coins along your path is a common sign of guidance and support from your angels. Coins, with their shiny surfaces and distinctiveness, are often strategically placed by angels to catch your attention and convey messages of reassurance and presence. These small, everyday items can carry significant messages from above, offering comfort, guidance and reassurance.

3. Dreams
A visitation dream is a type of dream where a person feels they have been visited by a deceased loved one or an angel. These dreams are typically vivid and feel incredibly real. In visitation dreams, the angel appears or communicates a message of comfort, providing a sense of peace and closure to the dreamer.
Angels use visitation dreams as a means to communicate with you because, in your sleep, you are more open and receptive to spiritual experiences. During these dreams, angels can convey their messages more clearly without the distractions and barriers of your waking mind. Upon waking, the dream can leave a lasting impression, reminding you of your connection to your departed loved one or to the divine.
4. Angel numbers
Angel numbers are specific sequences of numbers that are believed to carry messages from angels. These numbers often appear repeatedly in your daily life, catching your attention and prompting you to seek their meaning. They can appear on the clock, receipts, license tabs and so on. Each number sequence holds a unique significance rooted in the concepts of numerology.
Angels use numbers to communicate because they are a universal language that transcends barriers of speech and culture. For instance, 555 is a sign of growth and transformation. Seeing 444 frequently can indicate that you are on the right path and your angels are supporting you.
5. Changes in electricity or electronic devices
Angels are thought to harness electricity in subtle ways to capture your attention. They might cause lights to flicker, a smoke detector to go off or electronics to briefly malfunction. These occurrences, seemingly beyond natural explanation, are believed to be deliberate signals from angels, urging you to take notice of a message or their presence in your life.
My parents live out of state, and a few departed loved ones often send a sign the day before my parents visit. Frequently, these signs manifest as unexpected electrical incidents. We know it’s one family member in particular because his electronic messages are infused with humor, perfectly reflecting his personality when he was with us.

6. Text, quotes and songs
Angels can communicate through text, quotes, articles and songs by subtly influencing what you read, hear or encounter. For instance, they may guide you to specific passages in books, articles or online content that resonate deeply or offer timely advice. Quotes that repeatedly come to your attention, whether through social media, books or conversations, can also carry messages of encouragement or guidance from angels.
Additionally, angels may use songs to draw your attention to lyrics that resonate deeply with your situation, delivering profound insights and reassurance through the music's message.
7. Animals and nature
Angels communicate with you through animals and nature by orchestrating meaningful encounters and behaviors that capture your attention. They might send specific animals, such as birds, butterflies or even unusual creatures, to appear in your path or at significant moments. Angels can also use natural phenomena, like the appearance of rainbows or unique cloud shapes, to convey messages.
You might notice a particular animal or insect that held special significance between you and a departed loved one during their time on Earth. Alternatively, you may encounter something in nature that captures your attention so deeply that, upon researching its symbolism, you discover it holds significant meaning.
8. Moving objects
Angels are believed to have the ability to interact with the physical world in subtle ways, including moving objects as a form of communication. These actions are often interpreted as signs or synchronicities, reminding you of the presence and guidance of angels in your lives. For instance, angels may move an object to convey a message or provide comfort in times of need.
A few years ago, my great-aunt gave me a necklace that I had originally given her before she passed away. One evening, I placed the necklace in my closet while I was deciding whether to keep it or give it to my daughter. The next morning, when I went to retrieve the necklace from the jean shelf in my closet, where I had left it, it was nowhere to be found. While I was searching for it, my daughter came in and asked why my aunt’s necklace was on her pillow. I then told her that my aunt wanted her to have it.
9. Hearing a voice
When you get a spark of inspiration in your mind or hear the voice of a departed loved one, you may be experiencing a message from your angels or departed loved ones. Don’t assume what you are experiencing can’t be real! Hearing the guidance or voice of your departed loved one or angels is a beautiful sign of their presence and can happen when you need comfort.
Although I haven't experienced this personally, several of my family members have. My father was working in his garage a few years ago and had his phone turned off so he could get some work done. While immersed in his project, he heard his sister speak to him and deliver a message. At this moment, my father knew his sister had passed away but that she was at peace. Moments later, my mother opened the garage door to inform him she had received a call that his sister had passed.
10. Scents
Aromas and scents can be messages from your angels or departed loved ones, evoking memories of a specific person, a sentimental moment or a meaningful time in your life. These familiar smells can offer comfort and reassurance, reminding you that your loved ones are close by.
In our last home, a family member and I were discussing a departed loved one, mentioning that we hadn't seen any signs from her recently. About an hour later, as I ran into my bedroom to grab a sweatshirt, I stopped in my tracks—my room was filled with the distinct aroma of my departed grandmother’s house. I had forgotten how unique her home smelled, and it was remarkable that she was able to replicate that scent. She was saying, “I am here, Alissa; I am right here!”
Angels have a way of sending signs that speak directly to your heart, often through moments and symbols that are uniquely meaningful to you.
These messages are uniquely tailored to your journey, making them unmistakably special and comforting. So even if you don’t see a particular sign you’ve experienced listed in this post, it doesn’t mean it isn’t a sign.
Remember, you can connect with God, Jesus and your angels whenever you choose, because any sense of separation from them is merely an illusion.
